Working as a copy editor is a great way to learn how every aspect of a newsroom works, according to Nancy Hanus. She started her career as a copy editor and worked on virtually every desk in The Detroit News newsroom – from editing to sports to business to metro and photo. Ultimately she became the director of new media, supervising the online news operation.
