About this blog
This blog was created as part of NEWS 201, a beginning editing class at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, taught by Associate Professor Sue Burzynski-Bullard.
Why I believe editing matters
Whatever kind of journalist you aspire to be – reporter, photojournalist, designer, multimedia producer or editor – you’ll need to be a strong self-editor to succeed. With fewer layers of editing in newsrooms today and with more pressure to post news quickly, it’s essential that every journalist acquire strong editing skills. You can no longer rely on someone else catching your mistakes.
Mastering editing skills will make you a stronger writer and help you succeed in any profession that requires clear communication.
